Objectives: To create authentic and realistic hip-hop scenes that resonate with a teenage audience and enhance the storytelling of a young student’s journey at the Opéra Garnier in Paris.
Challenges: Cottonwood Media wanted to elevate the authenticity of hip-hop scenes in their popular teen series, ensuring they accurately represented the culture and appealed to a global audience. The goal was to seamlessly integrate hip-hop elements with the show’s ballet backdrop, enhancing the lead characters’ development and the overall narrative.
Our Solutions:
- Creative Consultation: Reviewed storyboards of three key episodes to understand the objectives and narrative arcs. Proposed improvements to enhance the authenticity of hip-hop elements within the storyline.
- Artistic Direction: Managed the artistic direction of all hip-hop scenes, ensuring they were culturally accurate and engaging.
- Talent Acquisition: Organised a casting call to select skilled supporting dancers proficient in various hip-hop styles.
- Choreography and Training: Created original choreographies and hired specialised dance teachers to coach lead actors and supporting dancers, improving their performances and on-screen chemistry.
- Rehearsals and Production Support: Coordinated training sessions and rehearsals at iconic locations like the Opéra Garnier and the streets near the Eiffel Tower. Supervised the filming of hip-hop scenes to ensure consistency and quality.
- Event Planning: Assisting in the preparation of the official rollout party to promote the new season.
